What to know about Veneers
A veneer covers the visible surface of a tooth. Porcelain veneers are made in a lab and are highly stain-resistant; composite veneers are sculpted directly onto the tooth in the chair and cost less, but they wear and stain faster.
Most porcelain veneers need a thin layer of enamel removed so they sit flush. That step cannot be undone, which is why a careful consultation, a mock-up and an honest conversation about expectations matter more than the price.
Veneers change appearance; they do not straighten a bite or treat decay. Good candidates have healthy gums and teeth, or have had those problems treated first.
